Contemporary House Design
Deciding what basic design for our home living can be quite tricky, especially if we admire the modern minimalist style yet yearn for a warm and lively home to spend your spare time with family and friends. Indeed, a modern home design mostly leads to cold and sterile feeling as everything appears to be white, bright and neat. On the other hand, if we prefer to have a warm and homey feeling yet like to keep the neatness and the minimalist touch, then contemporary home design gives us more options to it. This design provides the flexibility of which style we like to choose, but mostly it refers to what is popular right now. However, if we want to combine the styles from different era to create a unique and artistic design, it’s absolutely legal to do so.
As contemporary design allows us to convey our taste on the home style, creating a cozy and warm interior, which is mostly indicated by using warm colors and less lighting, is totally acceptable. However, in order to keep the minimalist soul in the background, the rule of keeping the clean liness to dominate the interior design has to be followed.
Keeping the clean lines
Regardless our personal taste, the best pick for the base color for contemporary design is always neutral ones. For example, you can place a warm brown wooden floor while having white color for the wall and the ceiling, added by a cream furry rug in the living room. Of course it’s not a sin to use bright or bold colors in our contemporary interior design, however it may work on some ornaments or small furniture to shoot out its beauty among the silence of neutral colors. Make sure to not place too many of them to keep its balance and the harmony of the room as a whole. Plain is always better to keep the tidiness, but if you prefer to have walls, floor or other furnitures with some patterns on, then the geometric ones would do the trick.
Furnitures & Ornaments as individual
Despite our urges to keep buying new cute furnitures or house ornaments during our shopping times, we need to keep it in mind that the less is better for a contemporary design. Avoid to have overloaded our house with too many things as the furniture and ornaments would do the favor to the beauty of our home interior instead of destroying it. We tend to place some ornaments between two furnitures or walls without realizing it just to create the connection between the two. This should be avoided as every furniture we place needs to stand out as an individual and unique item. Thus, having a sufficient closet is recommended for us to keep other furniture and ornaments until it’s their turn to be displayed.
